Each of us has a unique and interesting relationship with food. It is very intimate, deep, and a lifelong commitment. Eating and food are so much more than just simply used to get full. This has been going on for 2 decades. If you have done a diet before, even if you have done it a million times before-this time can be successful and it can be rewarding, as well as successful! By setting the intention to look deeper within, to let your life change, to see this as a journey an experience a rewarding life passage to a whole new you. Put some tips to use and be more successful with your efforts! Motivational Tip One: Enjoy Eating and Nourish yourself with Rewards! Love your life and have fun, focus on things you love. One of the best ways to stay motivated throughout your weight loss journey is to nurture yourself with non-food incentives that you will look forward to and enjoy. This could be a long bath, a movie marathon at home; it might be cuddling up with a good book. It is also very important to enjoy whatever you eat. Taste it, feel it, take time, taste it, enjoy it! Healthy foods can be decadent, tasty, and colorful and divine…treat it as such!! Motivational Tip Two: Track Your Feelings and Emotions around what you eat. Keep a food journal and write down not only what you are eating, what you love, and how you are feeling about what you are eating. Let your emotions out; listen to how you are feeling. How we use food and diet is very telling about why we may have been overweight in the first place. Make room for your issues around food to come forward and allow for time to hear them, and use something healthy to deal with your emotions rather than food. Journaling is a great way to slow down, pay attention to what you are eating, check in your body with what you might need and make the right choices. The way you nourish yourself with food is often how you nourish yourself in life. Motivational Tip Three: Master Emotional Eating Come up to the issues around emotional eating. Is there a deeper reason for why you have over eaten in the past? Is there something disturbing emotionally going on in your life?Do you splurge when you are upset, stressed, or in a fight with the boyfriend? Listen, pay attention, and know the emotional awareness around food is key to success. Being honest with yourself is the only way to get the true measure of your emotional eating triggers. Without facing them, you will always be less likely to be in control of your weight. Motivational Tip Four: It is all about healthAlways choose health over weight loss. All the diet sweeteners cause more issues than they are worth. Always try real organic foods. Listen to how your body feels after you eat. Feel from the inside out. Let the feeling guide you. Did that feel good? Let your stomach and your digestion guide you to the right choices! Remember that as you listen to the body and learn what it needs your health will improve; your body will slim down easily gracefully and for life! Motivation Tip Five: Move the body. Moving the body should be fun and joyous! Find what you love and enjoy it. Loving exercise is the easiest way to do it. It always works best when you have a friend or do it in a social way. Be creative try something new, dance, hike, breath, stretch. Keep it fun, simple, it can be quick or long…just let your joy guide you! Motivational Tip six: Watch for those who may sabotage your efforts for health. There will always be people who encourage you to go off your diet "just this once." Not too much of a problem, but can become one if it is done too often. If every time you see someone you go off the rails at their suggestion, it may mean you need to distance yourself or have a serious talk with about your weight loss efforts. Peer pressure is still present even after high school and even as we mature; it's ever-present. Cultural influences can really affect your diet. if your friends and family correlate enjoying time with you to eating with you. Plan non-food activities with loved ones and work hard to resist temptation when you're in an environment where food is part of the festivities. Motivational Tip Five: Remember, It's About Health, Too In a Web poll, 65% of our site's visitors said they were losing weight for appearance's sake; only 35% said they were doing it for their health. If you think about it this is shocking, considering how great an impact our nutrition has on our health. Not to mention if we do not balance our emotions, thoughts, and our relationship around food you will always go back to the dysfunctional way you have dealt with food issues in the past. Motivational Tip Six: Try to meditate daily. Relaxation and being calm can create not only a biological environment more conducive to receiving the minerals and supplements of your food, but it creates a deeper satisfaction above and beyond food. Longing for food is often times a deeper longing for a sense of peace, satisfaction, or love. Finding an inner well through meditation is a wonderful way to unleash a deeper spiritual connection to the body. Going to the root and being motivated with health is what will keep you motivated for life!!!!
